FanMilk School Caravan: Promoting Environmental Consciousness and Healthy Snacking
FanMilk has educated over 90,000 students on proper waste disposal and collected nearly 3 million ice cream wrappers for recycling through the FanMilk School Caravan: A Wrapper Collection Challenge. This annual three-month initiative aims to teach students the importance of correct waste disposal and healthy snacking habits.
At the closing ceremony of the 7th edition, Managing Director of FanMilk Ghana, Lionel Parent, emphasized the significance of the initiative, which began in 2018 in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES).
“At FanMilk, we are dedicated to making a real difference in our communities and in the lives of our consumers and partners by focusing on our three Danone Impact Journey (DIJ) core pillars: health, nature, and people & communities. To bring these pillars to life, we expanded the scope of the FanMilk School Caravan to include 50 more schools, reaching over 90,000 students,” he said.
Madam Theresa Oppong Mensah, School Health Education Programme (SHEP) Coordinator, praised FanMilk's dedication to promoting good snacking habits and proper sanitation among school children. She noted that the school caravan has empowered thousands of young minds with valuable knowledge through engaging activities, educational programs, and proactive lessons on well-being.
Headmistress of the Association Model School, Madam Grace Kafui Ametefe, also commended the initiative for promoting cleanliness in the school and its surroundings. She mentioned that students are now more willing to pick up litter because of the values instilled in them through the FanMilk School Caravan.
